Remedy has apparently been following the internet buzz about their game Alan Wake. The net seems to think that the game has gone the way of the Dodo since it did not show up at E3 or even Leipzig. Well, Remedy posted a small update in the official forums to let us know things are still on track. Basically they are giving us the old "we want the game to be great" excuse.

In correspondance between the two, both the EA and TT CEO have agreed that any acquisition agreement would not come before the Holiday season this year. Thusly, they have agreed to let the EA acquisition offer expire for now. This does not mean EA has given up, as you can read.

On a totally different note, just a heads up. DM fell this past week and broke three of his ribs. Because of this, things may move a little slower this week. No, we did not forget about the GR Geometry Wars contest, we will try to verify the scores todday,. Unfortunately, when you have broken ribs, it affects everthing - talking, breathing, moving, and espeically typing. Thanks for understanding.

Acti-Blizz CEO Robert Kotick has responded to Warner Bros. for saying it should receive higher royalties for use of its songs in games like Guitar Hero. Kotick maintains that companies like Warner Bros. are failing to acknowledge the benefits they receive from the exposure and re-exposure of songs from their music catalog to the gaming public. It brings the songs to an audience that may never have listened in the first place. We tend to agree.

"I think his view was...that [Warner Music] should be compensated the way they might for a performance on iTunes. But this is an entirely different business that is very technically complex. We're going to favour those publishers that recognise and appreciate how much we can add value to their artists," said Kotick.

Disney has confirmed that there will be a demo for their great-looking Pure ATV Off-Road racing available next month. It will be for both platforms, Playstation 3 and Xbox360. Here in the US, major retailers will be giving away demo discs for the game for anyone who pre-orders. The demo comes with a tutorial mode to teach you new tricks, and a single race set in Italy. It should be great fun, if it plays as good as it looks.

In July 2008, Nintendo was back on top in terms of hardware sales. Here in the USA, that is. The Nintendo DS sold just over 600k units, and the Wii sold just over 550k units. The PS3 came in third with 225k, and then the PSP beat out the Xbox360 for the fourth spot with 222k. The Xbox360 sold just 205k in July. It is good to see that the handhelds are getting the attention they both deserve, especially the PSP. Click read more for the official numbers.

EA and Grasshopper Manufacture are set to release a new title for Xbox360, PS3 and Wii. Working with EA will mean the Suda game gets a lot more exposure worldwide. Click read more for the full info.

One of the best re-makes to be released lately, Bionic Commando Rearmed, is not going to be sold on Valve's Steam service after all. According to a post on the Capcom forums, Cappy and Valve were unable to reach mutually agreeable terms for the sale of the game. It is now only available on the Capcom website or Direct2Drive.

"At the last minute, we've been unable to reach mutually agreeable terms with Valve on BCR, so they won't be carrying it," VP of strategic planning and biz dev Christian Svensson wrote on the Capcom forums yesterday.

Epic games and EA, of all companies, have entered into a publishing deal for an all-new action title. It is not Gears of War 2 either, apparently. We are not sure what else Epic has up it's sleeves at this point, but we are sure info will begin to be released very soon. EA is like a sieve when it comes to secrets.
