If you remember, we told you a while back that the Lionhead developers had announced that there will be an XBLA of Fable Pub Game. Using this title, you can start to build up gold for use in Fable 2. Well, the official release is almost here - August 14, 2008. We assume there will be some sort of cap or max, or else you must win it at a very slow rate. If this is not the case, then there will be gold galore, and that detracts from some gamer's experience.

The newer Warhammer Online director Paul Barnett is streamlining the game, yet again. Four more classes have been cut from the game, thus bringing the total count to 20 from the original 250. Paul was brought in to reel in the developers on this one, as the game was so ambitious that is was growing bloated and out of control. Barnett's job was to focus and rein in all the over-reaching and unrealistic goals that were running rampant at the developer's offices. The game is now confirmed for a September 18, 2008 release. Good job so far, Paul!

"We went down a terrible path where we had too many careers," Barnett confessed. "We had 250-odd at one point, and we boiled it right back down to 20."

Ubisoft's Assassin's Creed is not doing as well as it should be on the PC, at least according to Ubisoft. A pirated version of the game leaked on to the internet about two months before release, it seems. and Ubi claims that seriously cut into sales. Ubisoft is now suing the PC game duplicator for apparently allowing an employee to take a copy of the game home and post it on the internet. Ubisoft alleges that security measures agreed upon by the dupe company were ignored, and had the protocols been adhered to, the leak would have never happened. We will see what happens with this one, but if the allegations are true, that is one heck of a breach for a duplication company.

Xbox VP David Gosen spoke with MCV recently about the state of downloadable games. He said that there is "no question" that the sale of DL games will overtake the sales of retail, in-store games. Seems like a no-brainier to us, but he then goes on to say that he expects it to happen the same way it happened in the music industry. Can't complain about games delivered to your door, we suppose.

EA has revealed more details on the upcoming Godfather II game. According to XB360 Magazine, there will be six playable classes, at least. Bruiser, Demo Expert, Arsonist, Medic, Safe Cracker, and Engineer. Always gotta have an Engineer, baby. On top of this you can choose from 12 different personalities for your character, e.g., your Bruiser may have an alcohol problem and drink while fighting. Talk about realism. The game will be more of an RPG with some RTS elements, and the game will play some third person sequences that zoom out to strategic map level. Sounds interesting, at least. Stay tuned.

Gamedaily spoke with Sega America VP Sean Ratcliffe about the Wii, Sonic, the iPhone, and a few other things. Ratcliffe, when he spoke about Sonic, admitted that the franchise is really suffering, as of late. He also stated that it is hard to keep a long-running franchise like Sonic fresh, but that they are definitely looking for new ways to innovate. Ratcliffe promises that Sonic Unleashed is going to bring the Sonic franchise back into the light, so to speak. There are many innovations and fresh additions, he claims, and it will truly be a next-gen 3D game with classic 2D game play. We hope so, Sega.

Just a quick post to inject a little bit of gaming fun into your morning. We all know how you like to see EA suffer from time to time, and here is your chance. Even if you are not a Madden NFL player, you can appreciate the fact that the cover athlete for this year's edition is, you guessed it -- Bret Favre. Why is this a problem? Well, yesterday, as the link shows, Favre was traded to the New York Jets. So now, EA has him sitting on the Madden NFL 09 cover as a Green bay Packer, which no longer holds true, and the game is out in less than a week! Puts a little smile on your face, does it not? Well, those of you who pre-ordered the game, make sure to pick it up. Who knows, EA may change the cover and you may be sitting on a collector's dream.
