Well known MMO developer Turbine has confirmed it is working on a new MMO game that is based on a micro-transaction model. This means pay to play folks, and not only that, but pay to upgray-de. The more u spend the better your avatar becomes. Some fans like this style of play, and some don't, but the supports have now become too big of a minority to ignore. The information was gathered from a job posting on the Turbine website, by the way.

This month's issue of EGM, in the rumor section, revealed that the next MMO from Square, the follow-up to Final Fantasy XI, would be unveiled at E3 2009. It is called rapture, and as we have stated before, it is designed to co-exist with the aging Square MMO, not replace it. FFXI Producer Hiromichi Tanaka apparently told EGM that "the next generation MMO that we're working on is going to be different than Final Fantasy XI. And even though we have the same staff working on the project, we're not going to make something that'll be exactly like FFXI."

The phenomenon keeps on keepin' on, it seems, folks. World or Warcraft has now reached 11.5 million subscribers. Ever since the release of Wrath of the Lich King, the recent expansion, the game's subscription numbers have started rising rapidly again. Will anything ever top WoW?

Some of the more popular EA titles are now available on Valve's Steam digital download service. Spore, Mass Effect, and Warhammer Online, are just a few of the game users can now purchase using the Steam service. EA finally gave in, it seems. Good to hear.

Rockstar has released a patch for GTA IV on PC. This is to deal with the known stability issues, as well as overall performance. Players have been getting crashes and error messages all over, apparently. Click read more for the change list, click the link for the Rockstar support site.
