Sony will fix your PS32 unit free if the 2.40 update broke your console. According to PS3Fanboy, Sony will repair any console bricked by the update free of charge, although there are supposed to be not that many affected."Our Consumer Services department is working directly with any impacted PS3 users, and, if it's determined that they were affected solely by the 2.40 issue, then their units will be repaired or exchanged at no cost. SCEA stands behind its products and always works to ensure the best possible consumer experience."

PlayTM was able to spend some time with a preview build of WipeoutHD, and they claim the game should hit the PSN this month. Not only that, but the game is in full 1080p 60fps glory, it seems, without any lag. Great to hear! While most of the courses are remakes of past tracks, the graphical upgrade is enough to make the title viable, and if it hits this month, it will be a much-needed boost to the PS3's lineup. Let's hope the info is accurate, and check the link for preview info.

Shuhei Yoshida, the head of Sony Worldwide Studios, conducted an interview with ThreeSpeech, the official Playstation blog. Yoshida moves up from the SCE London Studio (The Getaway), and is now in charge of all in-house development, across all Sony houses. Congrats Yoshida, and it is time to step up the games!

Sony's 2.41 Firmware is available for download via the System Update on your Playstation 3 console. Among the new ability of not bricking your console; the minor update adds a new 4th "tab" to show your last played game, time and date, take a Look. Also, the "Crown" Platinum trophy has been transformed into an actual trophy w/ a crystal globe inside.

According to CVG, the updated 2.41 PS3 firmware, which supports trophies the correct way, will be available mid-week. As may of you know, the 2.40 firmware was released to disastrous results a few days ago. User's PS3 units were experiencing lockups and other problems after install. Hopefully 2.41 has been tested thoroughly.

Sony promises that there will be no more delays or setbacks for the PSN HOME virtual world interface. Sony's PSN director Eric Lempel told Next-Gen "The Home open beta is still on schedule for release later this fall...Even though it will be in beta, it will be a fair representation of what the service can be and its potential, so it won't be a 0.5 release, it will be a fully robust service." Time will tell if this is true or not.

Firstly, Happy Independance Day Holiday! many of you have off today as well, we hope you BBQ the heck out of your various meats tomorrow!Anyhoo, a post in the official CoD4 forums has revealed the disappointing news -- there will be no trophies added to CoD4 on PS3. There are no plans to patch the game to support trophies, according to the post, it is just too late int he production schedule. Oh well. We have to wait for CoD: WaW!

When Sony gets around to fixing the broken 2.40 firmware, the trophy system will be active. The list of games that will support it has been compiled from different publishers and forum-goers, so here it is. We will update it as more are added. Click read more to see it.
