	In July 2008, Nintendo was back on top in terms of hardware sales. Here in the USA, that is. The Nintendo DS sold just over 600k units, and the Wii sold just over 550k units. The PS3 came in third with 225k, and then the PSP beat out the Xbox360 for the fourth spot with 222k. The Xbox360 sold just 205k in July. July represents a month with some unique circumstances:

(1) Microsoft lowered the price of Xbox 360 20GB Pro to $299..."While the systems remain in stock."

(1.1) Microsoft did NOT lower the price of the Arcade system that sells for $279...what in the universe were they thinking!...OBVIOUSLY, everybody knows it is a better idea to wait until the Arcade system sees a price drop to $199 in September.

(2) Microsoft announced that there would be a 60GB Pro system released...and everyone on the planet knows it will see a price drop to $299 shortly after the 20GB supply runs out...that is why so many people have the attitude "Why not wait until next month to buy my Xbox 360 so then I end up with a 60GB hard drive instead of a 40GB hard drive."

(3) July is also one month after the release of MGS4, and we have seen the "hardware sales" effect for Playstation 3 elminated...225,000 systems for a $399 Playstation 3 is NOT impressive.

(4) The fact that there is only a 20,000 system gap in sales between PS3 and Xbox 360 the month after MGS4 has been released is very disappointing for PS3...especially when you consider that Xbox 360 sales were so low because the 20GB systems were being cleared out in order to make room for the 60GB systems.

Yet another monthly defeat for MS.

Games are made out Quarters and Periods.

Just because you lose one battle does not mean you lose a war...especially when the "war" was already over with Xbox 360 as the winner.

Just because you are outscored by a couple of points in one quarter does not mean you have lost the game...



In fact, this is almost a perfect example of Microsoft being outscored by a score of 7-6 in the third-quarter of a football game...Sony is saying "See, we are the better team, because we outscored them in the third-quarter of the game."

But Microsoft is saying, "Look at the scoreboard, we outscored you 14-0 in the first quarter, and 28-7 in the second quarter."

LMMFAO! Are you kidding!?!? According to some numbers that I read somewhere (I'll have to look them up), 15-20% of PS3's sold aren't used as a video game console, but rather as a stand alone Blu-Ray player.

That means, as a console, PS3 did 192k at best, given the low end percentage.

So, as a console, 360 is clearly winning the battle. But, since Sony has trojan horsed that unneeded Blu-Ray drive into it, the PS3 is selling as two seperate items combined into one.

BTW, let's take a look at the software sales. That's where the real war lies, right?

CLEARLY, Microsoft is in this to make money, just like Sony is...and Sony has LOST FAR MORE with the Playstation 3 than Microsoft EVER did with the original Xbox.

Sony has lost SO MUCH MONEY with the Playstation 3 that they have literally had to sell factories in Japan, and lay off employees in Japan, which is an ABSOLUTELY "dishonorable" action for ANY Japanese company to commit according to the Japanese cultural standards. That is one of the reasons why the PS3 has ALSO done so poorly in Japan.



At this point in time, if Sony released a new console in 2012 (which is the earliest possible time any new console could be released) it would NOT BE POSSIBLE for Sony to have earned an overall profit with the PS3 during its lifetime. Playstation 3 cost Sony a LOT!

This is the main reason why so many rumors are floating around saying that Sony doesn't have the liquid-asset (cash) available to release a Playstation 4.

If you like Real-Time Strategy games, Playstation 3 is NOT for you. Two years on the market with ZERO games available in genres like RTS.

Xbox 360 outsold Playstation 3 by a ratio of 2.5:1 in Japan this month!

Due to the release of Namco's RPG called Tales of Vesperia, the Xbox 360 has ONCE AGAIN outsold the Playstation 3 in JAPAN!!!

Tales of Vesperia on Xbox 360 sold 108,000 copies in its first week in Japan, which was more than the COMBINED sales of Soul Caliber 4 on Xbox 360 and Playstation 3.

Xbox 360 sold 24,962 systems in Japan, while Playstation 3 only sold 9,673 systems!

(1) EA sold almost TWICE as many games on Xbox 360 as the Playstation 3.

Here's one better for you. People buy the PS3 as a videogame console and a Blu-Ray player. So they are appealing to 2 different markets. Plus the PS3 isn't as old as the 360 and therefore hasn't reached the same saturation point that the 360 has.

While I think the PS3 will eventually surpass the 360 in total sales this generation. At this rate it will be the year 2012. I can guarantee at least one of the Big 3 console makers will have launched a new console by then.

The only winners I see this generation are 360 and Wii owners. Because they both will steal significant market share from Sony.

For the first time since 1995 when the PS1 launched we have a 3 way race and Sony actually has some real competition.

So yes the PS3 did outsell the 360 last month in the US according to NPD.

But what we all forget is that the Wii outsold the PS3 and 360 combined.

The Wii has about 60% of the market while the 360 and PS3 fight over the other 40%.

According to what I have been told once you pay for a game and download it from PSN, your supposed to be able to download it at least 5 times.

So what I wan't to know is if I gave somebody my PSN ID and they downloaded the WarHawk and installed it to thier HDD would they be able to play it once they logged in with thier PSN ID instead of mine?

Ya I am going to talk sh!t for a minute. I had 4 guys flake on WarHawk that told me they would be there. We had 4 show up. We could have had a full 8 player game with just people from GamersReports. Instead we got some a$$ jockeys who were teaming up in Death Match. I understand things come up. But if you can't make it, or didn't get the game show some f*cking common courtesay and let somebody know. I gave out all my info and BlackTiger was the only one who contacted me and told me he couldn't find the game to rent...

Ok for the record I tried to let someone else sign in with my PSN ID and download WarHawk. They did it. it worked. Then I had them log in with thier onw PSN ID. it still worked. Then I tried to login with my PSN ID. And I got a big f*ck you from PSN error (Error 80029752)

Hi, I'm just spamming to help this thread reach 100 posts! :) I have to say the popcorn was good too.

Now, I'm really pleased to hear people are playing Warhawk and liking it. It's a great game. Unfortunately I won't join u since I'm located in Europe (and cross continent online play isn't exactly lag free). Remember the next update comes on 27th with trophies. I wonder how many levels I'll instantly gain (not really care, just saying).
